Icelandic Roadtrip
I took a short road trip with a small group of photography buddy's to The Snaefellsnes Peninsula area of Iceland which is northwest of Reykjavik, This was my first visit to Iceland and I must say this area was breath-taking. We stayed at Hotel Framnes, in Grundarfjordur, which located down by the harbour and features a popular restaurant on site. Breakfast and Wi-Fi were included.
This location was perfect for us as it was only a 5 min drive from the iconic Kirkjufell mountain and waterfalls which we visited on a couple of occasions once for sunrise which was amazing and one of the best I've ever seen and I've seen some pretty good ones on my photography journey's. We also made the hike up to the waterfalls one evening in the hope to capture The Aurora Borealis the weather was far from perfect as there was some light cloud cover but we did manage to see some colour in the sky.
We took a drive on the ring road which circles The Snaefellsnes Peninsula just to see what this area had to offer and we wasn't disappointed we managed to see the Black church at Budir and one of my highlights a group of Icelandic horses.
Even through Grundarfjordur wasn't the biggest of towns it had enough places to eat with a good choice of quality food to keep us hungry photographers happy. There was also a small supermarket in the town which was ideal to get a few snacks in the morning's before we headed off for the day.

We decided to hire a Toyota land cruiser for the trip which in my opinion was perfect for the off-roading sections, it also had plenty of room for our luggage and photography equipment.
